A little help
I've noticed a trend in some of my smokes. Seems like the first half burns fine then it wants to go out on me. I relight one or two times and then generally it's fine from there. Whats up?? If they were too "wet" I wouldn't think they would burn the first half well either. And I don't change how I'm smoking them either i.e fast or slow. Any ideas ? Maybe I need to dry box them for half a day or so before smoking??

What RH do you store them at currently? And which smokes are these?

Re: A little help
68-70% and it's really random. Today is a tat rj21 but I've seen it on padrons, and even a trinidad cuban but that one had a horribly tight draw so I attributed it to that on that one. Like I said after the relight it takes off again. Almost like after the first ashing is when it does it. As long as I have some ash hanging out there it seems to be fine.

Like the cherry falls off? That could happen with short fillers, but the cigars you mentioned are not short filler.
LOL, are you flicking the ash off? This sounds odd at that RH level.

Are you sure about your RH (have you tested your hygrometer)?

Re: A little help
Tested the hygrometer with the salt test and it checked out right. Not flicking ash. I dunno, just seems weird. MaYbe I'm letting it sit too long toward the middle when I get to talkin with whoever, I dont think thats it but I'll try to pay better attention. I always let the ash fall on its own . The weird part to me is it seems some of these just do this right about half way and then they are fine. But others in my box will burn perfectly. The monte's and arturo fuente's do fine. Maybe just a bad cigar ocassionally.

Re: A little help
I have found that the cigars that I hold in my mouth and smoke slowly that this happens, almost without fail.
Luckily, I usually only hold yard gars in my mouth..... come to think of it, maybe that's why they die.... I usually slobber yard gars to death.

Ahhh that could be it....i do have a wet mouth I guess. That makes sense, so tonight I'll try and hold it more in my hand and see if that helps.
