Tatuaje "East Coast"
At 5.5” by 54 rg this cigar has a nice heft in your hand. The café rosado
oscuro wrapper is exactly what it sounds like; an oily, dark reddish brown leaf with a few veins. The pre-light smell is a heady concoction of spices and leather. This is one of those cigars you can just look and smell for a while before lighting up. It’s just so appealing. The pre-light draw is perfect and gives you a meaty tobacco taste. Upon lighting, the pepper blast one expects from DPG is definitely there, and quite a bit stronger than the regular Havana VI line. This is definitely a full bodied cigar. There’s a jalapeno spiciness that lingers on the lips, but beyond that is a wonderful sweet raisin flavor that reminds me of a tawny porto. After a quarter of an inch the pepper dies down to a light spice and the cigar gets a creamy woody taste, more oak than cedar, with some citrus notes. These flavors predominate for most of the cigar, at this point it’s more on the medium side of full bodied, but I was still feeling the nicotine hit from the initial pepper blast so that was fine by me. With about 2.5 inches left, the citrus notes are gone, and the woodiness is giving way to a musty earth flavor with some hints of dark chocolate and coffee. The pepper returns on the palate, but in a much less “in your face” kind of way. This is definitely the best tasting portion of the cigar. Simply delicious. This cigar was consistently smooth, fairly full bodied, and absolutely delicious. It kept changing throughout the smoke and had a remarkable level of complexity for a non-Cuban. This is Nicaraguan tobacco at its finest, one of Pete and DPG’s best creations, and certainly worth hunting down for any fan of full-bodied Nicaraguan smokes. A big "thank you" to Huy for giving me the opportunity to try this cigar!

Thanks for the review. This is a nice cigar. I have one stored away. Habana is sold out of them.
