Hygrometer
I'm just wondering where I might be able to find an INEXPENSIVE, yet decent hygrometer. The one I have been using is cheap, and I'm not positive that it's right.

Re: Hygrometer
Acurite at Walmart - About $8 and they work great. It is a combo Hygro/Thermo with 24 hour high low display. Not adjustable but usually they are very accurate.

Re: Hygrometer
That's what I have. Mine is dead on and a buddies is 2% low. Not bad compared to the ones "made" for cigars that are 3x as much.

Xikar makes a decent one for $ 20-25. http://www.xikar.com/product_humidification.asp#
The ones Dave are talking about work pretty good too. Have both and not an issue with either. $ 8 is better than $ 20 any day of the week.

Re: Hygrometer
8 usually is better than 20 but when you factor in the lifetime warranty, I think the 20 is better than the 8.

Re: Hygrometer
Thanks all. I looked at the ones they have at Walmart and was wondering about them, because I'm going to have to get two. One for my little humi, and one for my tupperdore.

Re: Hygrometer
I've tried probably 10 different ones and currently have the wireless ones from radio shack. Well actually 3 of them so I can check without opening my humis. They all seem to have varying inaccuracy. Get the beads, do the salt test on one of the ones mentioned and you'll be fine. I would steer very clear of the brass analog ones there nice for asthetics but not accuracy. If you really want to go all out get one of these
Totally not necessary. Cigars are fine between 62-70% RH IMHO.

Re: Hygrometer
I have beads in my tupperdore. My little humi isn't really big enough for me to have a spot for beads. I just put distilled in the humidifier, and let it sit for a while and then put it back in the humi.

Re: Hygrometer
I have some soft bead sticks that are the size of a cigar and it won't hurt your cigars if they happen to touch the beads. You can find out more info on my website below.

Re: Hygrometer
They have cigar shaped bead holders for 15 bucks or so and that should be fine for a tupperdor. If you don't use a humidification medium that absorbs excess humidity and let's off humidity, your cigars will be in trouble.I am not sure what your set up is but I believe nothing but straight water results in 100 pct rh.

Re: Hygrometer
Anyone know of a wireless hygrometer that you can add up to 3 different zones to?
Looking for one to monitor 3 separate levels in a winedor, without actually having to buy 3 separate hygro's. |
