Its official - The wife wears the pants!
For several years the wife has been working her way up the food chain in a decent sized electronics factory. It’s divided into 2 "rooms" PCB Boards and Wire. Over a year ago they made her a supervisor in the Board room. About this time last year they lost about 50% of their work force in layoffs including the manager. Others, including my wife assumed his responsibilities and they managed at first. Fast forward to now, and they have hired back all they had, plus some and their business load is 35% higher than it was in any previous qtr before the tank. Her stress level has been climbing again and they announced 2 weeks ago the addition of a supervisor and a new lead person to help. She also got a 10% raise last week. Today the plant manager sat in on a daily meeting that he never attends and when they finished he added that he would like to introduce the new PCB Board manager to everyone and pointed to my wife and said congratulations. Later in the day he notified her that the raise she got last week was what she had coming, the new raise will be added to that. Not to minimize her accomplishments by any means but she has never attended a second of post high school classes, never knew a thing about electronics before getting hired in there working the assembly line and frankly (all the love in the world) can be a real ding bat sometimes. But she worked hard, learned her jobs, was never afraid to try something new and master it and she is proof if you work hard you can move forward.
I am very proud of her. Gotta go, I have to go plan tomorrow’s meals and clean the kitchen Chas |

Topped the whole stack off with 2 cans of cream of chicken soup and a can of chicken broth mixed well. salt and pepper to taste, a sprinkle of paprika and leave covered undisturbed for 6-7 hours on low. Re: Its official - The wife wears the pants!
I think you have been a victim of a slight misunderstanding: Your wife (just like the rest of us) has always worn the pants and the only official thing is Now You Know It and Admit It!
Congratulations to her on the job, I know it came at a great time for your family. |

Re: Its official - The wife wears the pants!
What a great success story! Congratulations to your wife and you!
I think higher education is over-rated in many instances. For instance, we now find ourselves in an economic situation due in large part by graduates of Yale and Harvard I used to have coffee every morning in my old hometown in Nebraska with the same guys, same seat, same time, every day. Of the 8 or 9 who showed up, only one had a college education. He was a bachelor school teacher and our "token liberal" in the group. One morning, he went on a tirade about how college educated folks were superior to non-college educated people. Smarter, richer, blah, blah, blah. I pointed out that every one at the table was self-employed (mostly agriculture) and probably had more money in one checking account than his net worth. On top of that, we paid twice as much in social security than he did and bought our own health insurance. I got him so mad, the veins in his neck started to bulge. We had discovered a new pastime, "let's "red vein" Vern". Hours and hours of fun at no cost WyoBob |
