Gurkha Grand Age Perfecto
Size – 6 x 60
Shape – Perfecto Wrapper – Cameroon Filler – Nic. & Peru Binder – Nicaragua Good solid roll on this cigar. Smooth tobacco aroma. A few slight veins are present. First third - Very light flavors initially. Tasting of cedar and leather with a very short finish. The mouth feel is moderate in body even with the light taste of the smoke. First inch smoking a bit tight because of the perfecto shape but after the first inch it really opens up. The flavor takes on coffee and almond notes. Very smooth cigar at this point. Second third - The burn is getting quite uneven. Firm ash is holding solid. A leather flavor is now overtaking everything else. Full aftertaste developing of mocha and slightly sweet tobacco. Spicy nose exhale quickly arises. At this point I tried to remove the band but realized that it was glued to the wrapper. There was no saving the inevitable tear at this point. When I took it off it removed a good 1/2 inch piece of the wrapper. The burn was also way out of whack at this point. Last third - Strong tobacco with hints of citrus. Really picks up in strength near the end with a long and heavy aftertaste. Conclusion - Flavor wise I really enjoyed this cigar. I’ve not had much luck in the flavor department from Gurkha, but this one was dynamic and pleasant. It’s unfortunate that the band was glued to the wrapper and caused some heavy destruction upon removal. Also the burn was never very good and required several touch-ups. |

Re: Gurkha Grand Age Perfecto
Thanks for the review! These are one of the Gurkhas I like. I'm told they really REALLY improve with age (like 2-3 years). I have a 5er resting for a year so far, so we'll see!
