Doctors orders...quit cigarettes!
Saw my Dr. as my BP is alittle high, and getting short on breath, time to get off the cigarettes he says....so I have a little help doing it with Champex. Told him not giving up my cigars and he said that was okay. Wish me luck, as I start on Sunday with the champex, and have to pick a day, 8 to 14 days from then and be done with the smokes, and continue treatment for 12 weeks.

Good Luck!
The first 10 years is the hardest. Dont use the nicotine gum.... ever. Helped me kick the habit for good but... only by replacing it.

Re: Doctors orders...quit cigarettes!
I hit three years and then started smoking again over the summer. I have to stop sometime soon, just haven't had the strength and drive to stop again yet. Best of luck to you.

Re: Doctors orders...quit cigarettes!
say the hell with the pills, try to find someone in your area that does this, link below. one treatment and you dont want butts anymore,I walked into his office 6 years ago and have not had a butt since I smoked a whole pack the day I went there, and crunched the last 2 in the pack, walked out a free man.I have sent a dozen people to him since and they have all quit, one older lady smoked 4 packs a day for 40 years.I tried the gum the pills {zyban} the patch none of them worked anyway good luck ita not easy quitting {I smoked 25 years} but this guys therapy was magic, a little zap in the ear thats it takes 2 minutes....just trying to help.....link....http://drnasso.com/

Re: Doctors orders...quit cigarettes!
probably for the best. quitting wasn't really as hard as everyone makes it seem. I used the patch and never felt any physical or emotional discomfort. made me wonder why I hadn't quit sooner.
The hardest part about quitting isn't the actual quitting itself but fighting the urge to cheat. It is so easy to cheat and fall back into the habit. You bum a smoke from a friend, then you start to borrow a smoke every time you're around someone who is smoking and eventually you get tired of borrowing other people's cigarettes and buy yourself a pack. cigars have kept me on the right track. I didn't smoke cigars while I was quitting cigarettes though. Probably didn't have any for 2-3 months. yes, it was hell. I didn't miss the cigs at all, but jeez. no cigars!!? now I smoke between 1-4 cigars per week, mostly on weekends and it is probably the one thing I look forward to the most about Friday nights. good luck! I don't know how that Chantix might affect your cigar experiences though. It might be a good idea to at least suspend cigar smoking temporarily until you're done with the medication. |

I ate a gross ton of sunflower seeds to keep me occupied.
Good luck.

Re: Doctors orders...quit cigarettes!
I quit years ago and was at a bar with a buddy that stepped outside to have a cigarette...so I bummed one...tasted gross and I will never go back...especially after smoking so many great cigars. Good Luck!

It's true! I had the same experience. When you no longer have the physical addiction to smoke, having a cigarettes does absolutely nothing for you and just tastes bad.

Best of luck! It's been over three years for me, and I don't miss 'em a bit. I feel better both mentally and physically. Just hang tough and make up your mind you're going to do it.
