Liqueur, Creme and Fortified Wines Thread
Guys,
I thought it would be fun to have a thread where people list "must try" Liqueur and Creme to expand on the the big 4 discussed here already (beer, whiskey/whisky, rum and wine). I ran accross so much stuff while restocking my bar, I had no idea, stuff like Navan and American Honey. I will get this started: Amarula (being an ex-pat South African, I need to chuck this out there). If you like Baileys, you will love this. Fruitier and I think smoother then other Cremes, just a great drink to calm any cigar on a cool evening. E & J Cask and Barrel. Again, if you like Baileys, this is similar but made from brandy not irish whiskey, good stuff. I have both this and Baileys at home and think this makes a better mudslide by miles. Fonseco Bin 27. This is a ripe vintage port. Dirt cheap, huge fruit flavors, I love this stuff. Available everywhere, easy to drink, no fancy but always does the trick. |

It seems yes is the answer - but which is the question?
Me, I'll hit a cognac on occasion, but the last port I bought (as opposed to tried at some herf) was Taylor Tawny back in my college days. Half was gulped, half went in the bong. |

Mudslides and white russians I think are perfect for some cigars... on a Sunday morning I just cannot do scotch/bourbon or strong cigars so something mild with one of those works great... also, a sweet liquer after a smoke is wonderful.

I am not a fan of cremes or liquors... Too much sugar for me. What I do adore is real Schnapps. Not the just turned 21 stuff, but the real "made from the fruit only" stuff quite common in Germany and Switzerland. Just amazing to sip all day if I could.

If you like cremes, try Peanut Rum Cream from St. Lucia: http://www.castriescream.com/ Surprisingly good stuff if you like cream liquors.

Re: Liqueur, Creme and Fortified Wines Thread
A while ago I went on a Bailey's and Kahlua on the rocks kick. I love that drink. It's low on alcohol so you can have a few and still get up the next day with no problems. Taste so delicious and goes well with cigars. I was having a couple every night before I went to bed. Well after a few weeks I noticed that my pants were starting to fit a little tight. I had to drop the Bailey's & Kahlua drinks just too many empty calories for me to take on at my age. Still love the stuff but for now I will save it for special occasions.
