I don't know if any of you are seeing a rise in the number of telemarketer calls, but ours went from maybe one a month before December to about 5-6 on an average day. All our numbers, even cell numbers, are in the national do not call registry database and have been for years.
We have finally had enough and are now using the caller ID information to file complaints. If you feel that filing a complaint with the feds would be useful for you, here is the web page. https://complaints.donotcall.gov/com...aintcheck.aspx

I was surprised when I got one the other day on my cell (no home phone). I didn't even give her a chance to start the spiel and hung up. Unfortunately the number came up as "Unknown" so I can't file a complaint. The only reason I answered as I thought it was a friend on his work cell the also comes up as "unknown". I guess it's back to screening calls.

I've been getting one daily on my cell while I'm at work so it goes to voicemail about some wireless security. Every day it's a different number too and it's just a recording, but MAN it's annoying. Might have to use this link, thanks!

And these folks have ways to bypass that- we're only asking for "x" or "y" and not trying to sell you anything. Yeah- but bottom line you want $$$! I must admit tho- it sure is a tough racket to be in- I did it briefly and hated every minute of it!

Your registration will not expire. Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008. Read more about it at http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2008/04/dncfyi.shtm.

I'm curious if they were set to expire previous to that '07 act, because I've had my current number since '04 and signed up for the do not call list when I first got it.

I believe the gentlemen that say they used to expire are correct.
I remember re-registering a couple years ago.

I didn't get too many of these until I heard a commercial on the radio advertising freeipad.com. Do not go to this site or submit any information. They've been e-mailing me and calling my cell nonstop. I knew better than to respond to any crazy e-mails, but when they advertise on tv and radio, then I thought it was probably legit. I'm leary of everything now.

I've been saying this to my wife since the beginning of the year. I just checked to see if my number was on the list and it is. I use my Caller ID and usually don't answer, but I'm temped to start answering to find out who's selling what to me.

Also, I believe I remember reading that charities, political organizations, and companies you have done business with in the past can contact you.

Mark,
I was getting a rash of calls on my cell and text messages. I too was registered with all my numbers. The folks doing this don't care about the do not call registry. Rather than texting back or calling to remove myself from their listing, I would text them back the words F... Y...! or I would call them and say to them live. I would also add I reported them to the FTC. I swear to you I have yet to get another call since. Not one.
