So, do you nub a cigar only if it really deserves it or because you paid good money for it?

Deserves only...life it too short to smoke something you aren't enjoying, regardless of cost.

Xactly! I don't care how much I paid, if I don't like it right out of the gate, it gets spiked.

Nice Avatar!!! To the nub only if I'm enjoying it. If it tastes like gack, it won't make it to the 2nd 3rd.

Only if it's "nub worthy"...if not, it gets pitched. Too many other good sticks out there to fight one I'm not enjoying.

Like others said, I smoke it until its no longer enjoyable to me then it gets pitched. If there is 4 inches or 1/4 of an inch left, it doesn't matter.

I'm sort of in between. I may smoke it farther than I really should if it was expensive, but not really enjoyable, but won't necessarily nub it either.

I'm pretty stubborn, so I'll likely stick with a cigar longer than I should and end up nubbing it or close to. I can't lie either, price definitely affects how long I'll stick with it, but I've also been pleasantly surprised by a cigar during the final 1/3 after a totally underwhelming first two thirds.

To me a cigar hits its best point somewhere in the middle.. if it's no good after that I pitch it. Now if I was an addict I'd nub it but I smoke cigars to relax and because it's a hobby, not an addiction.

There are plenty of time in the past where I have pulled out a "got to" smoke that wasn't tasting right, or canoeing, or draw was off, etc. I pitch 'em if I can and only try to fix the draw problems if I'm in the mood. Now mind you, I also try to figure out what exactly the problem is. If I can re-clip the head or shorten the cigar and get something worth smoking, well, then I go for it.

I don't generally nub cigars; I find that the delicate balancing act of keeping it lit while not drawing so deeply that it tastes burnt is often a chore, and that's not what I smoke for.
If I truly love what I'm smoking, I make the effort. But even if it's been spectacular, if it's too much work at the end I let it die out. Way more often than not, it's the latter.

Agreed, only if it's nub worthy. For me, the sweet spot of most cigars is the 1-2 inches just before the nub. Usually the heat from the nub gets too much to handle.
