Yesterday was a mighty fine day. A friend of mine had the week off work and asked me to take a day off and go fishing. How could I say no?
After a big breakfast, the destination was Anderson Lake in Morgan Hill, CA. We fired up 858's and fished about two hours and were skunked at first. Two objects flew really close over our heads: ![]() And this... ![]() The guy in the back seat waved to us. When I'm having a bad day fishing, I live by the rule: "If at first you don't succeed, tie on a small lure and throw for little fish" Turns out they weren't too little after all. Bass numba one! Caught on a small green panfish tube. ![]() Bass numba two! Caught on a little chartreuse panfish grub. They were biting only little light stuff, and you could barely feel the strikes. ![]() You'll have to excuse the dorky hat tie - it was windy and I wasn't gonna lose my hat. After fishing we ate lunch at the El Toro brewery: http://www.eltorobrewing.com/main.html I HIGHLY suggest "the Duce" beer on tap. What was after lunch? More cigars of course! I knew there was a smoke shop in Morgan Hill but couldn't remember much about it as I wasn't sober the one time I went in it (did I mention it's right by the brewery?). http://www.morganhilltobaccocompany.com/ This place was awesome! They have a bar in the back (beer/wine) where we sat down for some beers and cigars. My fishin' buddy had a Tat brown and he bought me a PAM! Observe! ![]() Outstanding! They had chess boards there. He and I hadn't played a game of chess since highschool, but we still banged out three matches. I lost two, won this one: ![]() Chess, beer, and cigars went surprisingly good together after a day of fishing. Of course after all that we went back to his house for more cigars ![]() What a damn fine day! |
