I'm attempting to sell a new turntable on eBay to a gentleman from Russia, and the USPS is quoting me a shipping price of $120, or 4431.67 Russian rubles.
Not being the globe-trotting sort, I'm just curious - is that a lot of money over there...*checks map* Seems like a nice guy, I'm just afraid the price is going to make him balk, and I kind of need that money. I don't want to be told 4431.67 is 120 dollars' worth ![]() Thanks guys! |

Thanks light
![]() Amazing how different websites can give you such varying amounts. I can't get it to go through on the UPS calculator for some reason, but the box weighs 28 or so pounds, measures 17.8 x 6 x 13.9, and I still think that UPS will be cheaper than USPS. I like helping people out, but this international stuff is hard at times. |

There are many billionaires in Russia and lots of Porsches, Ferrari's, etc... so it depends who's buying it.

I just sent a box to the UK from the US. UPS quoted me $168. USPS did it for $70, insured with tracking. So UPS isn't always cheaper.
And I work for UPS!

I sent your question to my daughter who has spent a lot of time in Russia, most recent was 2 months last summer in Tomsk. Here's what she said.
Yes, it is a lot! But shipping anything bigger or heavier than a standard letter to Russia is extremely expensive, because of all the duty and everything they impose. Anyone who lives there should know that, and probably won't be surprised to hear it. It also depends on where this guy is located and how much money he has. I would guess that if he's buying a turntable from overseas, it's quite possible he can afford it. This is why most of the time, they will try to avoid shipping things overseas and pass things off to friends who are flying back and forth. |

According to this article, Russia has a lot of poor people and a lot of rich people....so it depends on your buyer. I'd just tell him the cost of shipping and let them decide. What would you want someone from Russia to tell you if the situation was reversed?
