Got home after bedtime last night and had to take the dogs out far a walk. Our half-wolf dog dives into the bushes and I hear a scuffle. Out he comes shaking his head and I thought uh-oh. Bam! The smell hits me. Skunk! Close. Wow! Breath through my mouth. Now it's late and I have a skunked dog to deal with. This is not his first skunking. You would Think one time would be enough.
Here's my deskunking recipe:
Bucket of hot water
1/2 cup bleach
1 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup laundry detergent
Scrub dog with brush and skunkwash, repeat a few times.
This helps bring it down to a faint wet skunk smell.
I think the odor gets stuck in your sinuses though. Now I have to figure out how to get rid of the dang critter. Not the dog, the skunk.
