I like it. Considering they are out funded, out gunned and are working with older, slower ships, I would say they are pretty effective. In 2009 they kept the fleet 305 whales below their 'quota'. The law doesn't appear to be on the Sea Shepherd's side despite the morality or lack-there-of of the Japanese whaling fleet. They have to act on the side of caution because the Japanese fleet always plays the victim and will do whatever they can, legally or otherwise, to keep the Sea Shepherds off their tail.
At the end of last season they were detained by Australian police because of making contact with a Japanese vessel and there were pending charges from the whalers on the international court. I believe I heard recently, that Paul is in jail currently on some trumped up charges.
