And Gregg, yep, picture a Matzoh Ball but instead of being a bready ball that floats in soup, you've got a Matzoh Fish Ball. Think meatball, but made of fish and (not bread crumbs but) matzoh (giant square cracker) crumbs. The jelly, I guess, is just to preserve it...sometimes they throw carrots in there. Once the jelly sits out a bit, it kinda liquifies so it's not so gross lookin' (picture translucent puss).
What's it taste like...hmmm......
No freakin' clue. I can't really say it tastes like anything else.
Very slightly like fish, very slightly like a matzoh ball. Add in the horseradish & you've got yerself a delicacy.
And for the record, I love pickled creamed herring.
