Picked this up at a B & M in Albany , Ny on Friday. Smoked it today on Father's Day. I'm a Pepin whore so I was looking forward to trying this one. My favorite DPG is the Cuban Classic Black Label.
The construction of this cigar is top notch. It's a Pepin, so you know it's well made.
Clipped it with my Palio and the pre- light draw was a little loose and very mild. Toasted the foot and away we go.
First 1/3 : Mild leather with a very nice nutty profile ending with that Pepin peppy spice that I like. But it was mild on the pepper finish at first.
Burn was perfect and even, it was kinda breezy on my front porch, so I was happy it burned nice. I like the nutty profile to this cigar. At the end the pepper note started to pick up a bit. Ash is holding together very well.
Second 1/3: Nutty and pepper, damn this is good. Had to touch up the wrapper, I blame it on the wind.It reminds me of a DPG Blue with a nutty profile, I like it.
Final 1/3 : WTF!!! It went out!!!! Did the wind have something to do with it? I was relaxing listing to tunes, did I doze off, for awhile? Puzzling. Fired it up again and finished it off to a nub. The tasting profile was dominate pepper and mild leather/nutty.
I will buy this one again, would like to try a different size. The smoke lasted over 1 hour. I paid around $11. Nice smoke. I give it a thumbs up.
