My "sea-legs", brother. Not my real legs.
I work as a pipefitter. As such, we work wherever the work is. In a powerhouse, it's all "way up there".
It's customary for me to work 200 feet in the air standing on my head holding stuff with my ass while someone else is shooting sparks at me and someone above me is dropping stuff on me.
It's just what it is.
There's good things about my occupation, too. This particular job pays about twice what I'd have made at the job I turned down yesterday. It's supposed to be good till Christmas. That means I'll be looking for another job in December.
Realistically, I'll quit long before that and take a job nearer to home.
It all depends.
In this business there is zero job security. One day I have a job, the next day I don't. It's the way it works. Cool thing is that if I get a bug up my ass, I just go home and get another job.
It's not what most people are familiar with at all, and on one hand it really sucks, but on the other hand it's very flexible and liberating.
I hate it, always have, but it pays the bills.
