Could have also been an update and never noticed it but I have occasionally tested the sleep and was never OK.
I recall exactly when iMovie got hung up on me a few times early on when I tried to transfer my movies and had to force quit it.
After that, the sleep problems started. Even after re-loading the recover cd, still wouldn't sleep.
I can really say I narrowed it down to iMovie.

Makes sense, I know iMovie is a problem. Just asked because ram that's not seated right causes sleep and wake from sleep problems. Glad things are working as they should now.
