Something along the likes of Dave's story:
I met my wife when I transferred to another store (Oct `98). I was the manager and he was the subordinate (oh man... this is going to start it up

). In any case; another associate told me that she liked me. One day she comes in all dolled-up. I was about to go home and she was going to start her lunch. I invite her to grab a bite since I skipped lunch and my drive is 60 minutes. So about 10 minutes in I ask her:
"So I heard that you like me. Is this true?"
"(Smiling & embarrassed) Yes."
"Well... you know as your manager; we can't be together."
At that point; all of the energy/happiness/smiling was crushed out of her. I had to verify this wasn't an employee prank. Her reaction told me it wasn't. So I said:
"Don't worry about it; what is between us is all that matters."
She came back to life and we have been together since. I transferred out of the store for obvious reasons; and then let it be known.
WORST DECISION EVER. J/K. I can't believe it has been over 10 years. Man time flies!
