That is difficult to answer: I've never been able to isolate specific flavors like the professional reviewers do. In fact, to me, the smell of the cigar is as important as the taste (maybe more so). Maybe it has a stronger profile than the cigars I'm used to: I have smoked more Montecristos than any other brand, and I think they are pretty mild. I smoked a My Father Le Bijou recently and I was impressed with that as well. Why: not sure, just liked it. I am a big fan of vanilla ice cream too, but I couldn't tell you why

If I could answer your question, it would probably be much easier to find other cigars in the same class as the 88. Unfortunately, for me, I think it will be a random search for the next great cigar.
