Re: Photography Thread
WOW, I like those, and as Ken Rockwell says, 'my work is all about color, "lol.
A moment of silence please on the death of a good friend today.
I picked up a third D200 two weeks ago at Ado, I keep a spare of all my favorite cameras,
at least the ones that are capable of full matrix metering on manual focus lenses,
since I have become heavily invested in them. But since I had a spare, this one
was going to my nephew...too good a deal to pass up.
Turns out when I got it and took a pic and checked the EXIF data, it had 105,000
shutter actuations. I thought the D200 was rated for 150k, so I was not worried
about 105k, outside of the general disappointment of getting such a nag, cheap or not.
SO I took it to work today to test some things and it crapped out. Last night it had
stopped reporting the proper aperture, I could turn the wheel all day and it stayed at
the max ap on the readout. Today I took it out to shoot an old El Camino out back and
it started having shutter errors. In a bit of a panic, I ran in to check the invoice, and
for ONCE in my life, I had two weeks to go til I would be out of luck on the return.
But ADO is nothing if not solid on returns, so I will get my $100 back and they will get
their camera back. My nephew....well he's a little bummed. I had told him it had 105k
but that it could crap out in a week or just as easily live longer than him with luck and care.
Turns out Nikon was just about dead on. SOMEONE took it 5000 clicks over, and I put
about 2-300 on it myself in testing pre-gift. I was hoping for option B, obviously.
