Actually, when I was a kid I remember my dad fixing the wipers on one of the old cars like that. We were in the Keys (Dad was TDY at NASKW) and the monsoons blew in. It got him to Bahia Honda from Key West (over the 7 mile bridge at that, and this was back BEFORE they re-did the bridges!)
