Behmor customer support is really good, they should take care of you but they may be a little busy so don't give up. There is bound to be real world issues that arise with a first release production.
The caraf is not supposed to go into a dishwasher because it can hurt the seal that joins the caraf together. If this seal fails the problem you are having sounds like the result, I am not saying you put it in the dishwasher. There have been a few reports just like this over at Coffee Geek and then they disappear from activity because Joe and his team take care of the problem, I don't think black vans show up at their houses but I can't really say
