I am very careful to make sure my form is good and part of that is keeping my back straight and not using my legs, although I do keep them on the ground when I lift heavier weights.

I use a spotter when I get up to and over 175... I hate getting stuck under weight...
Did deads yesterday... 3rd time ever doing them, did 225... I think I'll be able to get a little better once I get more used to using those muscles. I felt like I did them properly form-wise, though... no sore back today...
