My only recommendation is that you take me with you!!

Ive only been to Maui, Oahu, and the Big Island. My understanding is that Kauai is the least touristy, but also the locals are more likely to give you "stink-eye".

I would recommend "Ulitimate Kauai" by Wizard Publications... They were absolutely invaluable to me during my trips to the islands...Hidden Gems, Places to Eat, Lodging, etc... as a matter of fact, dont buy one... I'll make sure Santa brings you one for Christmas!
