Putting cigars in a tupperware is a good method of storage but does nothing to kill or determine if you might have beetles. However, it is very easy and if you want easy then that's the way to go.
The most efficient way to kill beetles or eggs/larvae is to completely freeze them for an extended period of time. There are several extensive discussions of freezing which can be found through a search of the forums.
