Friend of mine had to be first kid on the block to get a Kimber Solo 9mm. So far it's been a real disappointment. Will not work with 115 grain ammo at all, you must go to 124 or 147 gr. for functioning. My buddy's Solo has additional feeding issues, it's been back to Kimber TWICE already and still, no joy.
Hopefully this particular handgun is an anomoly but somehow it doesn't seem like it. Kinda reminds me of the old Seecamp .32 acp semiauto--they only worked right with Winchester Silvertips, everything else was a gamble.
While I can appreciate the idea of a gun being sorta "specialized"--in the case of the Solo, for self defense--if it's finicky or requires expensive ammo, who's going to fire one of them enough to be competent with the thing?
