He is definitely not a good lead-off hitter. He has less than remarkable selection of pitches and can't get on base. He is a decent power hitter, but his play is so streaky (except for his strikeouts). He should be batting 8th in the lineup so the pitcher can bunt him over the one time a game he gets on base.
His defense is respectable but he loves taking bad jumps and letting fly balls drop, kind of like the one that got him a 'homerun' the other day. Looked like him and Bruce out there playing a high flyball.
There are some here (Dan) who think he is a HOF'er in the making, but I think he is more like trade bait to get a real leadoff hitter back (Reyes).
