ok, let me start at the beginning.
It's a simulation league (as opposed to fantasy), so each team is drafted from scratch (the entire roster) from a pool of all NHLers (with 24 teams, so lots of talent). There are fancy pants programs out there dedicated to realistic simulation of games based on statistical analysis from the previous season.
So, we would spend a couple weeks drafting all... what, 22 roster spots? (I think that's right), and then once the season starts, you play a full season (not sure how many games will be played given the reduced league size) in which the games are simulated by the software. Your player performances are based on/reflect what the did the previous year in real life.
So this upcoming season for the sim league, would be based upon player performances from the 07-08 season. So this year's stats need to be considered for future reasons, but for this first season, last year's NHL stats will be what matter.
You, as the team owner, would act as GM (you can draft, trade, sign, etc) and coach (you set the line up, preferences on style of play etc).
Does that make sense?
if anyone is interested email Mark at
OneManArmy@rogers.com he's the commish, and he, obviously, knows more about the details than I do. He'd be happy to answer your questions. He's a good guy who loves sports and smokes cigars (casually, but still does)
