This brings back memories. Back in the 70's, before ear rings on guys became accepted, my older sister was seeing a guy with an ear ring. My dad, then a Senior Chief in the navy, showed up at an after school function to pick up my sister and a group of her friends wearing one of my mom's clip-on hoop ear rings (large and gaudy). Around that same time... I wanted an earring (piercing). My Dad said I could only if he got to pick out my earring. I still don't have any piercings!
