I had forgotten how obtrusive it can be until getting "unmoded" there. About every third thing I tried to do got the message. Waiting Sucks is our family motto.
On a vacation once we pull up to a McDonald's drive through after waiting 10 minutes. Place out order and they ask us to pull over to a space and wait for it. Having been through this before I tell the girl.. I'm sorry that is against family policy. She looks at me like I'm speaking Greek. Says, sir you need to pull over there. I tell here I feel no such need. She calls the manager over and he tells me I need to pull over because I am holding up the line. I motion to the 3 other cars already pulled over ahead and say, it appears that your slow service is the root cause of the hold-up not my cars location and that I had "spent time" in the no-mans land of waiting in the past while other cars got their food direct and left before me and was not interested in doing it again.
He tells me I "have to" move to a parking space. I agree but mention that we seem to always not get what we order when that happens and ask him to review the order with me to confirm they got it right. He does so. Then I tell him that we have condiment requests and ask if "now" would be the right time to deal with that to avoid a second trip for his runners.
They handed me our food, condiments, etc and we left the red faced manager and his silly long line behind us.
With apologies to Fred, never wanted to be the red faced McDonald's manager.
