Re: The Official Asylum Reef Tank Thread

Re: The Official Asylum Reef Tank Thread

There is a hood on the tank currently, but the previous owner cut out the top for the halide fixture to fit into. The fixture currently has legs that rest on the inner edge of the hood and sticks...

Re: The Official Asylum Reef Tank Thread

I hear you on the T5 setup. That's what was over my last tank. I still have the IC ballasts and may well ditch the big halide fixture and put T5s over the tank. I have an IC 660 and 430, which may...

Re: The Official Asylum Reef Tank Thread

All good advice Scott. You have a lot more experience in the marine tank world than I do so I was definitely looking forward to your take on Scott's situation.

Re: The Official Asylum Reef Tank Thread

Scott, if the tank is overwhelmed with algae due to neglect then it might be best to break it down completely and try to start fresh. I would try to sell the fish back to a local fish shop. ...

Reef safe snails:

Re: The Official Asylum Reef Tank Thread

I am not a fan of hermits myself. Clean up crew consists of a various snails for me (astrea, nassarius, etc) along with whatever soup of critters are in there (bristle worms, etc).

Hermits are...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

The only shaggy foot that I have smoked I lit foot like I would any other cigar, leaving all shaggieness in tact. I believe that was the intent with that style. If you cut the shag, then you would...

Re: Photography Thread

I will play. Picked up a 50mm prime 1.8 lens a while back to use in an attempt to do studio-like photography of the kids. $200 bux at a studio was getting ridiculous (but I cannot argue with the...

Re: Newbie recommendations

That is a damn fine haul! So many to sample, but those should keep you busy for some time.

You should check out the newbie trade thread also. I am almost ready to participate in it myself.

Re: What cigar did you smoke today IV?

Last night I had a La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor and a Padron maduro executive.

I didn't care much for the mi amor, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Padron. Each one I have had has been tasty.

Re: The Official Asylum Reef Tank Thread

Just a note on damsels, in general they do get territorial and can be a pain to remove later on once you have other fish in there that are more desirable. Chromis are a type of damsel that are...

Re: What's the last movie you watched?

Agree that Bridesmaids for $1 Redbox rental was well worth it for the laughs.

Also, watched Green Lantern last night (another redbox watch). I liked it and look forward to part 2.

Re: What cigar did you smoke today IV?

Enjoyed a Perdomo Habano maduro in the backyard. My first of these and I enjoyed it. It hit me with a good punch near the end.

The band is a very nice touch.
