Re: Seasoning a humidor with boveda packs.

I have a good many quality cigars, they aren't going in until I'm satisfied it is safe to put them in there. But I also like to experiment, so I'll be checking to see if Boveda packs can regulate RH...

Re: Seasoning a humidor with boveda packs.

So the cedar could end up drying out my cigars as it saturates, and not just the Boveda packs, it makes sense. I have some god awful cigars I got from the nex I think I'll throw them in and see if...

Re: Seasoning a humidor with boveda packs.

I understand that is the preferred method, but my question is why. If the Boveda packs keep the humidity stable, as well as seasoning the humidor. Then why wouldn't they make it safe to store your...

Re: Training taste buds.

I usually use pure clean water when I smoke, I haven't ever tried saltines but I might now that you mention it, it does make sense.

Wouldn't that make them well liked though?

Seasoning a humidor with boveda packs.

So I definitely am no expert, but if I happen to have a ton of brand new Boveda 69% packs, say 8 or so sitting around, and I throw those into a new 75ct humidor, place some cigars in it, and watch...

Re: Gurkha the monticristo of NCs

I'm confused, maybe because I'm relatively new to the hobby, but what exactly is it about Gurkha that seems to draw the ire of a majority of the smoking community. I had one yesterday that was...

Re: Show your latest NC purchase II!

There is an illusione MK in there, the only shop on island I found with illusiones had a somewhat questionable humidor so I only bought that one. I'll let you know if I like the Gurkha, hopefully...

Re: Show your latest NC purchase II!

It's the Gurkha Cellar Reserve, I'm looking forward to that one on my lunch hour today. The guy at the shop said it was a really good but really short smoke, so I'll be forgoing the usual short...

Re: Must Smokes? NC

Agreed 5 packs make more sense, I'm still looking for some of the cigars that are more or less universally agreed on though, before I start filling up my humidor with experiments.

Must Smokes? NC

So I've been smoking for a while now and recently had my budget increase significantly. I want to start ordering boxes online and just wondering what are a few of the well known higher end cigars I...

Re: Training taste buds.

You might be right about the mental link thing, I'm the type of guy that says things like "you know, that guy from that movie" all the time and I can remember faces no problem but can never remember...

Re: My humidor smells like *&#@

I feel for you, my wife loves flavored cigars and keeps wanting to buy them when I'm at the tobacco shop, I only let her get one or 2 because I'm not a fan of flavored cigars and I don't want her...

Re: Craigslist Humidor?..

I'll definitely be checking the cigars, I'm mostly interested in the Humidor though. A humidor full of cigars for 80 bucks kind of tells me they've been neglected in a garage or something. I can't...

Craigslist Humidor?..

So I was on Craigslist earlier and I saw something that seems a bit too good to be true, for Hawaii at least.

I want to go by and take a...

Re: Training taste buds.

I read somewhere to exhale 80-90% of the smoke then start the retrohale, unfortunately it isn't an exact science, sometimes I get out of it with a mild sinus irritation, sometimes my eyes tear up,...

Re: Alright, guys. Show me what good coffee is.

I agree, pick up a good french press and a burr grinder. Don't get one of those with the whirly blades, they suck and it's hard to get the grind right. You can buy Coffee online or if you have a...

Re: Training taste buds.

I try to retrohale at least a few times a cigar, it took me some work since I have sensitive sinuses and I thought I had done myself irreperable harm a few times, so if I don't do it I feel like that...

Re: Training taste buds.

I think I have been going a bit too fast. I'm attempting to slow down on an Undercrown I got today. I was tasting something that I knew I had tasted before but couldn't put my finger on it, looked...

Re: Training taste buds.

I always drink water with a cigar. A strong drink and a cigar are too much at once for me. I do the nose exhale a few times a stick, usually when I can tell the flavors are changing. I mainly just...

Training taste buds.

So I'm rapidly discovering I have the most uneducated palette ever. I keep trying to make out some flavors from the flavor wheel I have but I can't really find any of them, other than pepper. I was...

Re: Noobie.. How can I tell if my humidifer works?

You can pick up a hygrometer pretty cheaply. You can take out the cigars and throw in the hygrometer if its too small to just leave one in there. Check the humidity that way. Other than that you'd...

Re: J. Fuego 777 Corojo “Paka”

Hmm I live in Honolulu and Tamuras is literally a mile down the street, a guy sold me one of these the last time I was in to buy some Trappist ale. I was saving it for a day when I dont feel like...
