Re: tobacco wanted

I was going to suggest a dab of Vick's VapoRub on the upper lip. A little mentho-snuff is more in line. :tu

Once again Kid Pipe nails it down.

By the way, Green Briar it was. My dad used to...

or "mentholated." While we must each smoke that what we like, verily I say unto you, it's probably for the best...

Re: Roasting Question w/regards to Outside Temperature...

Practically identical.

FWIW, A roast time extended to 9-10 minutes is probably going to give fine (or better) results compared to the standard 4-6 minute popper blast. I see only one divot blown...

Re: Roasting Question w/regards to Outside Temperature...

+1: Ambient temp definitely affects popper roast times; the baffle-box warm air recirculate thingie worked well for me, too.

Re: pipe speech i need help

There's the good old info we all love. The (1964?) Report to the Surgeon General observed pipe smokers may actually live longer than the non-smoking public, blah blah blah.

Re: Cigar smoker needs advice about recently acquired pipes.

Strongirish pm'd me and said, "Radcliff pipes are a second or basket pipe made in England and are worth about ten dollars. Let him know. If he is to keep one pipe, I would keep one of the Amphoras....

Re: Cigar smoker needs advice about recently acquired pipes.

No good valuation site and, at forums like this, folks are usually more interested in smoking and restoring their pipes than in trying to figure out what they're worth.

Amphora is a Dutch brand...

MacBarens Navy (or Mixture) Flake; available, not too pricey, tasty as heck, easy to handle. Rub it out a bit to start then, as it dries (in the tin) it becomes a rookie-ready fold & stuff. (If...

Re: A shining example of poor customer service!

Re: New Pipe Smoker With A Question? Ask an Old Fart

Get a few Missouri Meerschaum pipes - bigger ones like the Great Danes. At less than $10 they're a bargain.

Two oz. of tobacco smoked from moist to dry over two-three weeks is a good start to...

Browse Mastro de Paja sellers for a cherrywood sitter. They were making a pretty nice pipe a while back, not too $$$. Cherrywood is the style, btw; the pipe is made from briar.

Re: Dunhill Has Landed

Yeah - the eagle has landed. Personally, I think the new stuff is up to spin for taste and quality. However, the new Dunhill Flake is beyond up to spin. It is overspun.

Very very nice...
