Re: Cuba relations thawing
I've had some Cuban rum while traveling. It was quite nice. I'm excited about the prospect of a nice box of CC being shipped to my mailbox with a half case of Havana Club

Any fishermen on here?
Headed to Salvo on the Outer Banks of NC tomorrow after Red Drum (the big ones) and blues. On the weekend will head out on a tuna charter out of Hatteras. I plan to drink plenty of Kentucky Bourbon...

Re: What cigar did you smoke today V?
You know, this is an evil place. I have been looking in the past 20-30 pages and then cross referencing the cigars with 5-packs on C-bid. This is why I should not be allowed to play on the computer...

Re: What's in your smoker?
I think oversmoked would mean too much resin/smoke on the meat. I have a klose smoker and at times when I smoke with 100% hardwood I sometimes use too much fruit wood or cherry and it gets a hair...

Re: The Official Asylum Freshwater Tank Thread
Nice thread. I used to work at a pet store in Atlanta (post biology degree, pre med school days) and got to go to Fins Aquatics down by the airport where they would import the fish in. I could get...

Re: What cigar did you smoke today V?
5 Vegas Classic last night with a little Dewars and ice.
And I'm not afraid to admit that I have liked most of the Gurkha cigars that I have smoked. I realize that people bash different (mass...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)
Hmm. Bleu cigars huh.
You could scrape some of the residue off onto a slide and have a look under a microscope. If you don't have a microscope.... Well, you should get one - they're awfully fun...

Re: A few questions on palate development
Might I say I like your profile pic. I have a tricolor corgi too who is now 9 or 10 years old. He still looks and acts like he did as a puppy. Well, except that he's pretty fat.
The CC I picked...

Re: What's in your smoker?
That's nice technique on the brisket for sure. What's the bulk of the rub that you used for the crust on the top? Granulated garlic?

A few questions on palate development
Howdy all,
While I have smoked the occasional (3-4/yr) cigars since the 1980's, I have only recently started to smoke once a week or so. In the past I smoked maduro type cigars - particularly...

Re: What cigar did you smoke today V?
Quesada Oktoberfest
This was found in a drawer after about 2 years! Put in humidor to try to resurrect it. The outer leaf is a bit crispy but the core was nice and its still a fine smoke (after 2...

Anyone else here ever try Marcus Daniels (FL)?
Howdy all,
I had a terrific smoke given to me by a friend a couple weekends ago at my crawfish boil. It was from a shop in FL called Marcus Daniel. That one was a box-pressed sun grown habano. ...

Re: Cooking with Lard
Tamales made with good lard are the stuff. Use some pulled pork or even diced jalapenos as the filling. That is the best application. Tallow... oh boy. Yorkshire pudding made with tallow...

Re: What's in your smoker?
The UDS is pretty easy. People get pretty crazy and spend a lot on the plumbing for the air mixture. I used kitchen magnets. Most of the hardware came from my garage and the charcoal/wood basket is...

Re: Help finding a cigar I enjoyed
They had a knot at the end. I've seen a few like that but these had a pretty long bit that had to be removed to smoke it. Rustic is the best word I have for them but not small like the backwoods or...
