Re: Sous vide
Water level was good, the vents were clear and pointed about 45 degrees away from the clamp, and the pot was not covered. 145 was the temp I used the previous day for chicken, and it seemed "stuck"...

Re: Sous vide
Had a near disaster over the weekend. I was tossed a big fat rib eye in the cooker, set it for 128 and made a run to the store. Came back about an hour later and noticed the temp on the cooker said...

Re: Humidor humidity
In a cabinet humidor, your best bet is an active system. I don't think beads are needed with an active system, but I know some folks use them together. For temp, best bet is to keep the cigars in an...

Re: New Tax Bill - Are you getting relief?
Employers will recalculate withholding based on your W2 and the new tax tables, so folks who get a paycheck will see an increase.
Looks like I will no longer be itemizing. Really happy about that....

Re: Gas Grill Recommendations
Weber Summit. I splurged a few years ago and bought the S-670. No doubt the Genesis will give you more bang for your buck, but I love the Summit. Add a Weber Smoky Mountain and you are set.

Re: Thank you, Eric.
Thank you all! It was a great time with great friends, old shipmates and family!
Some great cigars and whiskeys met their end in celebration, some of which I remember!

Re: It is back!!!
At the price, it would have to be in another league than the old version. It wasn't a great buy at $40 (IMHO), so at over $100, I'll pass.

Re: Official MMA Thread
I've been following Bendo since he joined WEC, and he always seemed like a genuinely nice guy. JDS strikes me the same way.
Here in the US, they only showed the JDS-Velasquez fight. I...

Re: Official MMA Thread
What a bust for UFC's debut on FOX. Should have shown the Henderson-Guida fight first. Glad to see JDS get the win over Velasquez, but wish it had been a good fight.

Been certified since 1988 and logged over 1000 dives in my first 8 years. Would have been more if not for those pesky deployments. Of course living in Guam and Hawaii during those 8 years made it...

Isn't that why we get married? Oh, you mean a contraption that doesn't scream "get your lazy ass up!" while making coffee and bacon? :r

Re: Audiophiles' opinions please
I'd be a little concerned about the age. Might be tough to find a suitable replacement if any of the drivers dies. There are some forums that cater to classic audio gear. You might ask folks there...

Re: What's in your smoker?
I put a picnic on the WSM this morning, added 3 racks of spare ribs a couple hours ago, and finally some ABTs. Should be interesting, since the only wood I had layin around was mesquite, which I've...

Re: Who Knows Home Theatre?
If you can't fit the bigger center, try setting your AVR for no center speaker, aka "phantom center". I suspect dialog will be much improved through your towers than the little center speaker.

Re: Who Knows Home Theatre?
The pass through is set up with KURO LINK, which is just what Pioneer calls HDMI-CEC. Check your manual chapter 8 for how to set it up.
If I were you, I would skip the 5.1 surround speakers you...

Re: Who Knows Home Theatre?
My manual says nothing about this feature either. I learned of it on AVS. To enable pass through, on mine, you have to enable HDMI Control (HDMI-CEC). I also have to set TV Audio to AUTO, so it...

Re: Who Knows Home Theatre?
Pass-through should do just what you want, and there is no doubt it's nice to have one component doing all of your switching and processing.
Looking at the online reviews and features, it looks...

Re: Who Knows Home Theatre?
:tpd:AVS is the best place to get AV advice. You will probably get much more bang for your buck with new speakers than a new receiver, but then you don't get HDMI inputs... Some options:
1. Buy a...
