Malta
So I'm looking at a trip in December and I'm really thinking about Malta. It seems "relatively" inexpensive and sounds like a very unique place to go for a vacation. Has anyone here ever been before? Also thinking about Monte Carlo, but it would be colder that Malta in theory. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Malta
A friend of mine use to go there all the time. Good party scene, but I think it may be a little slow this time of year. Go if you can regardless of the season. Are you renting a car or have a home base on your trip?
December is quite far away... |
Re: Malta
My wife and I spent most of a day there during a cruise stop back in 2007. We really enjoyed it and wished we'd had more time to spend there. The people were friendly, the food was great, and the island itself is very interesting and fun to explore.

December is quite far away but I literally work 7 days a week every week, 8-14 hours a day. December will most likely be my first shot at some time off. Malta may sound random as hell but my wife and I don't have kids yet and I figure there will be plenty of time for a more typical vacation after that. We just want to go see as many unique places as we can while we can. |
Re: Malta
One of the food network shows did one on Malta a few years back. It looks amazing from a laid back perspective. Enjoy!

Re: Malta
Like James I was there for just a day while on a cruise this past summer. It was great. If you want to just relax and not have to worry about a lot I recommend a cruise but thats my :2

Re: Malta
Never been to Malta, I'm afraid. But, I have been to a number places in the Med between October and February and none of them were bad. My only hesitation would be that the weather can be so unpredictable in December. When its bad, it really sucks.

Re: Malta
I have a few Maltese friends. All I can say is that the women are gorgeous - Caucasian-arabic mix of features with almond eyes, etc etc.

Re: Malta
Thomas- That's all I've been thinking about since I mentioned Malta to my wife. Funny enough they do have a Falconry center on the island.
http://www.maltafalconrycentre.com/ 18 hours of planes and layovers sounds not so appealing but it could be worth it. Now Cabo has been thrown into the mix. It would be warmer, less time in airplanes/airports and easy access to cigars. Quite an appealing option too since a relaxing vacation to me is not being without a cigar and a drink while awake. I honestly think there's not a wrong answer here, but I just want to make sure it's an awesome trip since they are few and far between for my wife and I. |
Re: Malta
If you are concerned about Cigars I can remember that there were CC's at pretty much every duty free shop that we came across on our cruise. They mainly had RyJ, Montie, Portagas, and Cohiba. Can't remember what the particular Malta one was like.

I went to school with someone whose parents both came straight off the boat from Malta, and she still visits there frequently. I still keep in touch with her. I could ask her what the best places are to visit, what to do, etc.

If I were to take a two week + relaxing vacation in December I would go to Malaysia, Maldives, or somewhere in Indonesia. Long flight but worth it. |
