Fire Pits

Wanting to build my own fire pit from Stone, Brick, etc...or purchase a fire pit somewhere. I have a smaller patio but looking for ideas. I don't want a gas fire pit, would prefer wood burning.

Re: Fire Pits

I put one in my back yard last December. Bought a stone kit at lowes which was about 250 then purchased pavers from there to make a square around the pit and a walkway to my back patio steps. Total cost for fire pit kit, pavers, gravel and sand was around 800 bucks and took me a weekend to do. I am in no way a handy person but with a few buddies, some beer, and somewhat of a plan we made it work. I will try and get a picture up tomorrow to give you an idea.

My plan is next year to put more pavers down (already put over 500 of them down) and place stone benches around the fire pit.
just my :2

We dug out a firepit, lined it with some brick that someone was getting rid of. Then, we laid flagstone around it. My son and I spent some time around the firepit last night, actually.

I'll have to find a picture to give you an idea. The pit is about 4 feet in diameter, which is just a little too small if you are going to be throwing pallets on it :)

That is my plan when I get out of the military, but right now I move every couple years so I needed something I can bring with me. When I was growing up we would always have fires that were 5+ feet in diameter. Here in Colorado I wont have one that big due to all the recent wildfires.
