A mother and father were very happy as parents of a little boy who was growing up nicely. But they were very concerned when, by his third birthday, he still had not uttered a word. So they made an appointment with the pediatrician. To make sure everything is just right, the mother carefully makes what she thinks is his favorite breakfast of pancakes and bacon. But in her concern to make things just right, she uses whole wheat flour instead of AP flour in the batter.

When she serves the breakfast, she helps her son pour a bit of syrup on the pancakes. He then takes a bite and immediately spits it out and says, "Yuck! What is this stuff?"

The parents are astonished and the father says, "Son, you can speak!"

"Well, yeah," the boy replies.

"But then how come you have never spoken before?" his father asks.

"Because up until now, everything's been fine."
