Cold Brew Coffee
Does anyone have a good recipe for cold brewed coffee to share? I found one on Google that called for 3.5 cups(!) of ground coffee for 1 Bodum pot. That seems terribly excessive. I'm hoping for something a bit more economical. Thanks!

Re: Cold Brew Coffee
Here is mine:
*Start off with a medium grind, add the grinds to a one gallon jug (I use about 1/3 of a lb of beans). *Add filtered water to fill container about 3/4 full and let sit, covered in room temp for 12-24 hours (the longer it steeps the stronger it will be, I prefer 24 hours because I can use less beans). *After 12-24 hours pour coffee through gold filter (I like to do this twice). *Taste the coffee black to see what you need to add, it should taste damn good already. *Add milk or water to cut the coffee, fill remaining 1/4 of the container (I prefer milk). *Add some suger if additional sweetness is preferred *Serve on ice, store in fridge. These are my preferences, quantities and ingredients are flexible! |

Re: Cold Brew Coffee
That sounds good. I'll use a glass gallon cider bottle I have. Looking forward to trying this. Thanks!

This sounds interesting -- I may have to give it a try!

Re: Cold Brew Coffee
Making a FP amount now that I am thinking about it.
I do it exactly the same way. I use the same amount of grinds I would use for a regular FP full. And I will press or pour through a regular drip filter slowly since I do not have a gold filter at work. ***I should have added, stir the grinds and water together in the beginning but do not stir again after it has steeped. It will make it too hard to filter, just spoon off the mass of grinds from the top before you start filtering. Here is my recipe updated: *Start off with a medium grind, add the grinds to a one gallon jug (I use about 1/3 of a lb of beans). *Add filtered water to fill container about 3/4 full, stir and let sit covered in room temp for 12-24 hours (the longer it steeps the stronger it will be, I prefer 24 hours because I can use less beans). *After 12-24 hours (DO NOT STIR) pour coffee through gold filter (I filter twice). *Taste the coffee black to see what you need to add, it should taste damn good already. *Add milk or water to cut the coffee, fill remaining 1/4 of the container (I prefer milk). *Add some sugar if additional sweetness is preferred *Serve on ice, store in fridge.
