Ever had a bad box?
I smoked a Padron 2000 Maduro at my B&M, fell in love and bought the last box they had. That was a month or so ago. I've only smoked three from the box, and they all were SUPER loose and tasted burned. I haven't had a chance to make it back to the B&M yet...will take a few with me for them to CSI...but has anyone ever had this happen to them? They look normal, feel normal...heck, even smell normal.
(edit) I've double and triple-checked my humi and hygros. All the other sticks smoke fine. |

My mind traveled in a different direction when I read the title of this thread.....

Re: Ever had a bad box?
First time I have ever heard of a bad box of Padron,in years of following forums.I don't doubt your findings,it's just unheard of in my experience.
I would ask for a replacement from your B&M,and let them pass the word to Padron. If they refuse,go straight to the local rep. I am sure this kind of thing is very unusual for Padron, they will want to fix it asap...... |

Re: Ever had a bad box?
Several. Worst ever was a box of '00 Hoyo Churchills, but there have been others. Most disappointing was a box of '04 BBFs, and some Party du Conns as well.

Re: Ever had a bad box?
Barry (Bscottskangum) smoked a Padron 2000 Maduro last night and he said it tasted like straight a$$...he even had me try it to confirm. :hm

Re: Ever had a bad box?
Never from Padron. I agree with Tom. Give the shop a chance to fix it.

Re: Ever had a bad box?
How oldvis this box? Padron already uses old tobacco. If its an older box it might just be past its prime.

Re: Ever had a bad box?
Contact your cigar vendor and see what they can do. Maybe they can send you another box and have them inspect them first. I generally want my cigars inspected before being shipped to me.
Most likely, the returned box does not affect their profits as they'll hand it back their distributor for replacement. |
Re: Ever had a bad box?
Fell in love with the 5 Vegas 'A' Alphas (Belicosos) and smoked 3 boxes in a row and they were fantastic. The last box I got in last spring sucked and they're not much better now.:sh

Re: Ever had a bad box?
The worst box I ever had was still worth the trouble.

Re: Ever had a bad box?
I had a 5x3 of PSD4s in which every one of the cigars was bad. Every one of them canoed horribly, and generally tasted like cheap cigars. They were smoked over a 2 year period, and never got any better.

Re: Ever had a bad box?
I like Padrons, but I have had some that were of poor quality. The main culprit was underfillng (which some manufacturers advertise as "easy draw" :r ) which will cause the cigar to burn hot and taste bad. Its a no-win situation and usually results in a discarded stick.
Then again I dont buy Padrons by the box, but if I had a bad box at Padrons price, Id want it to be made right. |
Re: Ever had a bad box?
I've had lots of bad boxes, mostly sick, rock hard, or crazy tight cc tent pegs. They iron out in time. I don't ever remember getting any loose cc's, offhand.
I've had loose nc's, quite a few. If they're soggy or loose, I just slow down. That's a real simple fix. What totally sucks is when they're tight on one side and loose on the other and never stop running. Or when they're tight outside and loose inside and tunnel. If I had to name the one defective that truly bums me out, it's a tunneling cigar. There's no fixing it and they taste awful. Slow your roll, Scotty. That should solve your problem. Good Luck!!! |
