Cold Weather & Cigars

With colder weather coming soon, what effect does weather play on smoking cigars outside? I usually smoke outside till about mid November.

It is likely that you will have more expansion in the cold air than in the warm, so draw a little slower so that you don't crack the wrapper.

I crank up the heat in my house, I am quite comfortable smoking there.

I go to my local B&M shop they have a lounge. But, that is when I'm home on my time off. When I'm at work in the Middle East a hoodie is all that's needed. I will smoke shorter fatter cigars so they stay lit better. Robusto's and Toro's work best for me during the winter season.

When it is too cold outside I send my wife to the humidor and she gets to pick what gets smoked inside. For some reason I prefer figurados in the cold. Weird I know but i have noticed as it gets colder most of my smoked cigars are either Beli's or Torps.

I usually wear a sweatshirt when I smoke outside in the winter. Sometimes a jacket, should the temperature drop into the 40s. I get chills just thinking about it.

Any colder than that, it's time to go visit a cigar friendly casino. :ss

Reminds me to renew my American Legion dues. And to check to make sure they still allow cigars in the lounge.

I sat out on the patio last night, about 50º. Should've had a fire but the wood was wet.
