Bachelor Party

I need the advice and suggestions of my fellow inmates.

One of my best friends is getting married in a few months and I have the honor of being his best man. For the bachelor party we are all going to Chicago for a weekend to bum around the town.

I want to get some cigars for everyone to enjoy and something really great for my buddy. Nobody else in the group has ever had a cigar.

I know what I like (Oliva's and LGC's) but I'm not really sure what to pick up for a group who has never had anything. Please help!

Romeo-y-Julieta, Arturo Fuente, and Hoyo de Monterrey i think would be good cigars for your friends.

Will a lot of booze be involved?

If so, just buy any non-offensive cheap mild cigar (like $30/bundle of 20), most of them will be too drunk to remember the 1" of the cigar they smoked before putting it out or forgetting where they left it.

For the group any non-offensive bundle will work, for your friend hire a stripper named Monica and she can hook him up with a Diparillo!

I'd say go for a bundle.

Oliva Connecticutt Reserve would satisfy your taste for their cigars and is the mildes of their sticks. I like the lonsdale. Or, Flor de Oliva for the less discriminating.

Montecristo No. 4 or Cohiba Robustos would be good ones.

romeo-y-julieta or montecristo white for your friends, if you want them to start smoking more than get them something decent so they will crave for more:) if you get them something too cheap tasting..they will never go back..

Ooh, it's been too long since I've had a #4, good suggestion.

I would go with something in a tube - seriously. It looks cool to non-smokers and through the course of a night of partying, it will protect the cigar from damage. I wouldn't go too expensive because no one will care.

All great suggestions. Thanks guys!

I don't want to go too cheap on them because hopefully they will like the cigars and I will then gain a few more smoking buddies.

What about going to a B&M in Chicago, recommend some great smokes, but don't take the hit....assuming they don't actually smoke them?

Assuming you want to actually supply the cigars as you wander....Monty PE's....it is my choice and I'm sticking to it. Bigger RG that tend to be popular, but short, as to not overwhelm....

+1. Lots of good B & M's out here, why not head out to one before setting out for the night. My buddies and I always start our night's downtown with a few hours at a one of our favorite lounges so we can prep for the night.

I hadn't though of hitting a cigar lounge first, but that is a great idea. Thanks!

Flor de Oliva (not Maduro, Gold, or Corojo) is a good bundle choice... sweet (usually a boon for first-time smokers), but not as sweet as something like Baccarat or Diamondback. At $35/bundle for Toro or Robusto you won't feel bad if they get pitched, and they're not so offensively sweet that you yourself won't want to smoke anything that's left after the weekend.

That said, I would avoid the Torpedo and Short Topedo... they are prone to being EXTREMELY densely packed near the tip to the point of needing a draw tool to open them up.

If you're looking for something FUN instead of GREAT for the groom, you might consider the Flor de Oliva Giants 1066, a 10" x 66 ring version of the same Flor de Oliva... $44 for a bundle of 8.

For a cheap good smoke for the one time or casual smoker would be a 50 cab of Punch or HdM Rothschild's. About $140 for 50ct.

For a bachelor party it's good to have a cigar one can just put out a whim and not feel like they are committing a crime. Just take another smoke out of the box later on.
