Uh WTF is on my Cigar
This Cigar is really spongy, and has this weird dot pattern all over it.
It's a Cohiba Second I got from my local back in MI. I've never seen anything like it before. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...8/db0c8fcd.jpg |
Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
Isn't that Cohibas new Leopard Spot Limited Edition? :r :r
|
Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
I know that they aren't actual Cohiba's, but they're actually pretty good :r

Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
I dunno Bro, I don't think I'd smoke it.

Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
Sacrifice it and cut it open. I bet it is only on the wrapper, kinda like sun spots. I have seen it on some of the leaves I use, I usually don't use them due to appearance.

Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
I completely forgot to make this thread. I've had these for a couple weeks. Once I got home from the shop I looked 'em over, got nervous, and took 'em out of my humi right away. Can't play it too safe?

Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
I have seen one or two water spots that looked like that, but not the whole cigar. If the cigar is "soft and spongy" I'd be pretty concerned...
|
Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
Smoke it...what could possibly go wrong?
Just in case though, I call dibs on your cigar collection :D |
Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
Definitely looks like some type of cellular damage to the leave. Typically it's a whitish color when there's a damaged area or green when there are water spots. Never seen one like this one. Too many good-looking cigars out there that also feel right - I'd put this one under the knife for a fact-finding observation. Plus take pics so we can all see.

Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
I was thinking water spots...but those shoudl be white-ish.
When there's water on the leaf and they cure..that's what you get. I've seen this before, but very localized. Possible poor curing..or just some mold...spongy would lead to the later conclusion. Hmmm, I guess it could still be water spots. |
Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
"Nearly all the wrapper anomalies that aren’t attributable to mold or plume are caused by water appearing at inopportune times on the leaf. Most leaves that are damaged in this way never make it to the roller’s table, but occasionally they do. Often the resulting cigars are sold as seconds. Or Havanas."

Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
Why don't you give your guy back in MI a call? Perhaps you are not the only customer with this anomaly? Maybe you can email him a photo? Or not and smoke the "thing". Heat generally kills everything.

Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
I'm not smoking it. I have 2. I'm gonna email them a picture. The filler looked like friggin mulched leaves...
I took pictures of the cut up, I'll post in a little bit. |
Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
I'd be interested to see more photos if you took any
Do you have any of the box it came in? Or the whole cigar w/ the band? |
Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
Classic example of cigar Herpes. Don't worry it's not contagious.:D:r
|
Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
I would guess mold as well. There's a reason its a second. :2

Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
It's "YICH."

Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
Smoke it! If I give you bad advice, and you happen to die, then you can stop posting here with my permission. :xxx

Re: Uh WTF is on my Cigar
Just looks like the wrapper was not fermented correctly.
