Roxy Painting.. NEED FEEDBACK

http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/a...-32-10_912.jpg

Ok, so Dani didn't sleep much last night and in addition to the La Gloria Cubana painting, she started this one. NEED FEEDBACK. She's trying to figure out if she likes it.

We need your critiques....what do you like...what do you not like. No punches pulled.

BlkDrew...she used your cigar name. If that is not ok...LET US KNOW.

Okay I will be critical (Because you asked), the hand seems backwards. It seems like the angle is wrong for it to be the left hand. I can't easily make my hand do that without looking very awkward. Also the Y is lower that the ROX (Could be intentional), other than that I think it is a cool concept and am sure Dani would pull it off. It sounds like you guys didn't actually run the idea by BlkDrew though, I would ask him first.

I think it would be cool to have the smoke come out of the circle frame and keep the rest in (if that makes sense).

To help eliminate the issue with the hand, you could put the cigar in the mouth instead?

If you really dont want punches pulled:

It looks like a woman with a beard
The hand is at an akward angle
The cigar is curved
Is it supposed to be a cowbow, or a guy in a fedora? Either way, he has no shirt on under his suit jacket

Here's my input FWIW. And just note that I applaud the creativity, my art skills are sorely lacking... like stick figures lacking.

Unless that is supposed to be someone elses hand in the pic that configuration of fingers doesn't seem possible.

If I reach across my body and have my palm facing out my thumb is closer to my shoulder than my than my neck. To get my hand on the same side into that position I've got to put my elbow farther into my gut than I'm capable of.

Clearly I take too long to type out replies.

Thanks for the feedback....very similar thoughts to what we had. Thus, the need for feedback. :)

Her actual thought after finishing was "Broke Back Mountain Cowboy"...not the intention. :D

Re-doing the man....New pics to follow.

How about a boxer with a stogie? I believe that the Blkdrew named the brand after his dog.

Looking better now, the hand still looks wrong though.

Reference, when I hold it the finger nails pretty much dissapear when the cigar is above the knuckle:

If I hold it the way the pic shows my pointer doesn't wrap over:

Man I wish I had a cigar right now, just tried smoking this marker.

That's so funny! Don't smoke the marker... that would smell REALLY bad and would taste NASTY!

I do agree I need to make the fingers different, I don't like the nails showing either. I also need to have the jacket show on the other side of the face.

Getting better.

Re: Roxy Painting.. NEED FEEDBACK

It is meant to be stylized... I think that it may be hard to see my intentional lines since I have done so much erasing :)

I am hoping it turns out half as cool as I see it in my mind... :hm

getting much better, the thing that still stands out on the hand is the pointer finger. Not the tip, the rest of the finger seems hooked. The part you can see towards the head of the cigar seems to curve to much IMHO. :2

Like in this pic, you can't see any of the pointer finger except the tip or in the other pic it is just the tip pointing more towards the viewer than down:

I am trying to be helpfull, if I am not or am coming across as rude that is not my intention.

The index finger looks REALLY fat compared to the rest of the fingers.

just let me know how much to pay when it's done :tu
Give me the first shot at buying it.

The letters are never even on the bands, all hand stamped so there is no regularity. The updated pics look great.

might I suggest contacting "muhren" regarding figure drawing/painting. He might be able to provide some useful tips/advice.
