Graphical multiplication
This is cool. The video calls is Japanese multiplication, but it would be interesting to find out what branch of mathematics (like topology or something) that this is derived from.

Re: Graphical multiplication
Mostly algebra...
21 * 13 (20 + 1) * (10 + 3) 20 * 10 + 20 * 3 + 1 * 10 + 1 * 3 2*1 * 100 + (2*3 + 1*1) * 10 + 1*3 * 1 |

Re: Graphical multiplication
Ok, it matters apparently where you put those arcs, but how do you determine where they go?

Re: Graphical multiplication
Really cool. I will have to look into this some more.

Re: Graphical multiplication
Wow amazing, gonna try it now!

Re: Graphical multiplication
Interesting concept...I'm gonna try it out on some new ones and see if it works.

Re: Graphical multiplication
I just blew some peoples minds at work!
They insisted on getting a calculator to double check, it worked multiple times. Just don't us any 7s, 8s or 9s!!! To many intersections to count! |
