Commemorating 9/11
Among other things my co-workers and I are doing to honor the fallen at the 10 year mark.
We began wearing these badges instead of our regualr ones on September 1st, and we will wear them for 72 days to honor the 72 police officers who lost their lives helping others on 9/11. We will also participate in a walk and service with our fire department on Sunday to honor the 343 firefighters who gave their lives trying to save others'. Also not forgotten are the almost 3000 innocent civilians and military personnel who were also taken from their families, including the heroes on Flight 93, heroes at the Pentagon, and heroes who died trying to help others at the WTC. Never, ever forget. http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...hog3/badge.jpg |

Very nice Tom, I remember 9/11 vividly as most do, what a surreal day, let's never forget our brothers in Blue and our fellow Firefighter brothers, and the guys who are still fighting.

Re: Commemorating 9/11
Awesome badge idea!!!
I visited the tower site shortly after that horrible event. One of the things that I still remember vividly was the letters "NYPD" that was spray painted over the Burger King store front where they had established a satelite office. There were surrounding buildings leaning with broken windows and huge tarps to keep the glass from falling. It was a war zone. A truly sad event and I will never forget the lives that were taken that day, law enforcement and civillians alike. |
Re: Commemorating 9/11
Nice idea with wearing the shield. I will be attending a service with my fire department.

Re: Commemorating 9/11
That's good stuff Tom. Impossible for me to forget that day. My brother was a consultant for an engineering firm that had a small office in one of the towers and another office in Jersey. I got home from work and turned on the TV in the morning to the news and ended up watching CNN all day for news and trying to get a hold of him on his cell. Turned out he was at the Jersey office that morning, but the fear and shock over what was happening have that day burned into my memory forever.
