Ready for a new phone

Ok, so I have been putting this off for a while, trying to stay away from Smart phones, because I truely believe that phones are for phone calls. But my current "stupid" phone is on it's way out.
So here's the question: Out of the Verizon 4G Smart phone, excuding i-phone (not 4G yet and I am Anti-Apple) what do people have and what do they like/dis-like about them?
I am kind of leaning toward the Samsung Charge. I've always had good luck with Samsung phones and it seems to have some good features.
Thanks for the help

Re: Ready for a new phone

I picked up the Thunderbolt a little over a week ago now.

HTC Thunderbolt

And I absolutely love it. Mine has been flawless so far. Reviews are generally great for the phone - but sucks big donkey d**ks on the battery. I ordered the 2700ma battery with the phone and then went ahead and got the 3200ma Seidio battery. Therefore I don't have any battery problems, can do what I want, run live wallpaper, etc.

In addition I am one of those people who don't mind purchasing factory reconditioned equipment. I have printers, phones, radios, stereos, iPods, etc etc all over the house and have had zero problems with all of it. Same warranties normally.

So - I choose to purchase the reconditioned Thunderbolt at $100 less. With the battery I was still under the cost of a never used one. Note that the reconditioned don't come with a SD card - but I simply took the card out of the phone I was replacing and stuck it in the Thunderbolt.

There are a ton of Android apps out there - haven't paid for one yet. Also one neat thing, for me anyway, is that it links all of my Facebook contacts with my phone book contacts and uses those pictures. It also has a status update with the contact. Gimmicks - but I thought it was neat. I don't play games on my phones but do have a handful of apps that are useful to me.

So there ya go - Thunderbolt with a thumbs up from me. Will answer any questions I can about it.

My wife and i each have a Charge. By far the best phone that i have ever owned. Screen is incredible. Fast as hell.

if you have a Costco near you, check them out for the best prices in town. I got mine for $179 there.

I love my "dumb phone".
It makes calls and texts here and there.... what else do I need? I got computers at work and already pay $50/month for internet on a 24" screen, why pay for it again on a 4" screen???

But if I was to get a smart phone, I'd get a Samsung Galaxy. I fooled around with a friend's and it was pretty nice, fast and easy to use.

I used to say the same thing. But i need to be able to look stuff up while i am out in the field. Plus i have the AutoCad app on my Charge. I can make changes to my drawings as they are done on site. :D

I agree about the "dumb" phone. But Seeing that Verizon got the I-phone and is now doing away with the new in two thing, and all the "dumb" phones are becoming extinct. So I guess it's time to take the step to 4G.
But basically I agree with everyone so far. The two top phones I've been reading about are the Thunderbolt and Charge. The battery thing is a cost of running so much stuff on the phone at once. So I expect to be charging it up a lot more than my "dumb" phone.
Thanks for the input so far! I still ahve to think about this.

So went out last night and bought the new LG Revolution. It was a little cheaper and lighter than the others. I think that was the deciding choice for me. been playing around with it a little and we'll see how I like it.
Now it's deciding which apps to get!!!

Thanks, I'll have to check some of them out. I already got the flashlight. Thinking about getting the SwissArmy Knife App, got the police scanner App, and had a song ID on my last phone and used it a lot, so looking to get one of those too.
What are the good weather radar Apps? I use the radar a lot with all the toys I have, never want to be stuck in the rain.
