Any problems leaving glass top unhinged?

I have a 50 count glass desktop humi that leaked like a seive. I took it apart, applied some weather stripping and clear silicone and now it is time to re-season. I just have the glass top setting on the base without the hinges hooked to the top. Does anybody see any problems with this? It's got a good seal so I think I should be good to go.
TIA for your advice.

From a "will it keep my cigars" standpoint - no, that is fine.

From a "will this drive me insane overtime" standpoint - yes, that is an issue. But maybe that's just me.

I tend to agree. If anything it will seal better without hinges, perhaps messing up the seat in the back side.
But like Alex said, the first five times, ehhh. After that, you will grumble everytime you open it, lol. But maybe
that is fine, maybe you don't open it much.

I don't see a problem. I don't know why it would be a problem taking the lid off and on to get a cigar 5 or 100 times. It's not like it's a huge chore. Kinda like opening an SLB when you want a cigar. Never heard any complaints about anyone having to remove the lid on those.

It's not like it's a huge burden and if it is, wow, I want your life!

I can't imagine it being a burden. Besides....I'm sure since it's only a 50 count there will be an upgrade in the near future. :tu

For me, it isn't that it is a burden; it is that it is something that is left undone. Every time I opened it I would say "stupid freaking hinges..." to myself. Maybe it is just a little bit of OCD on my part.

I'd say it will work for the time being.

At least hold you off until you're ready to upgrade.

The hinges broke off of my 250 ct. humidor about two or three months ago. I've been using it without the hinges while my new one is being built. I've had no problems at all with it holding humidity. Just like Alex said though... it is kind of a pain in the ass operating it that way. It'll be just fine over the short term... :tu
