A sad day for all fans of GUNSMOKE and its iconic star...

This show was a big part of my home when I was a kid. Seems I am at the age where a lot of the stars of my youth are passing away.

James Arness... the quintessential Good Guy with the White Hat.
May he rest in peace.

For you youngsters out there, take note that Gunsmoke ran from 1955 to 1975, and still holds the record for the number of original domestic episodes aired, at 635. Marshall Dillon, Chester, Doc Adams, Miss Kitty, and Festus all entered the American consciousness, and remain so to this day.

Rest in peace, James Arness.

RIP! He was almost a member of our family when I was growing up as my parents would not miss Gunsmoke for any reason.

Rip James Arness. A class act.
He never hung his hat at Miss Kittys place

RIP James. I'm a huge fan and still watch the old Gunsmoke's on TV Land. I bought his auto-biography a couple of years ago and had it signed by him. One real class act for sure. Steve
