Unpopped popcorn rant

Anyone else notice every time you pop a bag of popcorn there are a ton of unpopped kernels in the bottom of the bag?

I just popped a bag and there must be 1/4 of the kernels left in the bottom! This sucks!

When I was single I'd make popcorn with a metal bowl, an oven mit, little oil, and tons of popping corn, all over a gas stove turned on high. Never an unpopped kernel. Now that someone wakes up in the same bed as me I must be "civil" and not do things like that. Money down the drain!

Rant off.

In a pot with peanut oil is the only way! Or cocunut oil if you can get it. I can't stand the smell of microwave popcorn, makes me gag.

http://bourgieadventures.files.wordp.../jiffy-pop.jpg is what I had as a kid. Pop it too long and momma says :sl

I think a whirley pop may be in order when I finally buy a house.

I fully agree! HAd a Stir Crazy popper and it was the best thing ever for us to make corn in. Now, in the trailer it's microwave popcorn, and doesn't seem which brand we buy, they all leave a ton of unpopped kernels. If we try to push it, you get a big blob of burned stuff in the middle.

Oh the hardships we must endure......... :lr

That or the fortune that could be made in selling popcorn that won't get the darned kernels stuck in your teeth.

We used an air popper growing up. I should find another one. That popcorn was awesome.

You know, I've never actually searched for them. Just thought about it once I saw this thread.

Good to know it's not hard to get! :tu

Got an old sauce pan and cover. It pops well and then melts the butter for over the top. Just finished some and the youngest boy and I were watching the new NFL top 100 of 2010.

Yummy!

Yup, hate the microwave stuff, who knows what kinda crap is in that "butter" they use. I usea 1 qt saucepan with lid. Just enough oil to cover the bottom, up to 1/3 cup of kernels, and in just about the same time as it takes to nuke a bag i have enough for me, the wife, three kids and a dog. throw in a couple tablespoons of butter to melt in the saucepan once you're done popping, and you're done. Add salt, parmessan, oregano, or hot sauce to taste.
